The Glen is always looking for volunteers with a range of skills. Volunteering with The Glen is a valuable opportunity to give back to the community, make new friends and learn some extra skills.

We are passionate about connecting people and learning from each other. Volunteering is also a chance to have fun – we’re always up for a game of touch footy or a yarn.

We run quarterly volunteer info days with a tour of The Glen and info what to expect as a volunteer. If you would like to join us on our next volunteer info day, please register your interest by emailing to events@theglencentre.org.au.

Roles for volunteers

Our daily work program for clients runs from Monday to Wednesday, 10am to 12pm.

This program offers clients the chance to build a positive attitude towards work and develop teamwork and communication skills in a supportive environment. It also helps residents foster a strong work ethic to support their transition back into society.

We warmly welcome volunteers across all days of the week, both days and evenings. Whether you can spare a few hours or a full day, your support makes a meaningful difference.

Skills We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking volunteers with a wide range of skills, including:

Practical & Creative Skills

• Gardening, landscaping, and horticulture
• Woodwork, construction, and handyman skills
• Cooking & kitchen support (including lunch prep and weekend dinner prep)
• Vege garden maintenance
• Hairdressing
• Musicians & creatives
• Morning runners & PT group sessions

Office & Tech Skills

• Administration & filing
• Basic case management (e.g., helping fill out forms)
• Intake support (phones)
• IT skills & computer skills
• Marketing, social media content creation & photography
• Support for client-led groups (e.g., research, PowerPoint presentations)
• One-pager updates

Teaching & Mentoring

• Teaching & purposeful life skills
• Support with cooking sessions: preparing simple meals for 40 people while teaching basic cooking skills
• Support for client-led initiatives

Transport & Driving

• Drivers to transport clients to appointments and meetings
• Transport drivers for general support
