WORKING AT THE GLEN FOR WOMEN
We are excited that construction has begun and The Glen for Women will be opening early in 2022! It will be the first culturally-specific drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre for women in Australia. The Glen has long recognised the need to help women suffering from drug and alcohol addiction in the same way that we have been helping men in our community since 1994.
We will begin the process of recruiting people to work with us at The Glen for Women later this year and we are passionate about finding the right people. While working at The Glen is rewarding, it is not always easy. To get a sense of what it will be like to work at The Glen for Women, please watch the video below.
Staff testimonials
…
“Everyone has the right intentions of helping people. But there’s a lot of stuff behind the scenes that people don’t see… all the stuff on social media – we show the good stuff. We work hard behind the scenes. Whether it’s day, night, weekends, through Christmas. These guys are relying on us to get them through the good and bad times, and every holiday season.”
…
“You have to be an empathetic person. But you have to be a realist as well. You have to make really hard decisions sometimes. But also, we’re a family.”
…
“It requires you to be thick-skinned… People seeking treatment are desperate, their families are desperate. You take some hard phone calls sometimes… you have to deal with them all individually and try not to take things personally. And again, you get to share the wins as well.”
…
“It takes a lot of passion. It takes a lot of drive. Wanting to be involved in your community to help those in addiction and those who are going through it with the applicant.”
